Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert blasted the “leg-breaker” from Chelsea’s Ramires in yesterday Premier League match.

The Brazilian was given a straight red card in the dying seconds at Villa Park for a sickening lunging tackle and the Scottish manager criticised the 26-year-old after the game.

Lambert did concede however that Willian’s second yellow card was debatable, he told Sky Sports: “I saw the Ramires one and that was a shocker.

“I’ve seen it and been involved in games where I’ve seen people going in like that and that was a leg-breaker. If anyone tells you different, I beg to differ.

“The first one is debatable, it was just a little tug, and if it was against my player; I would probably be argumentative about it, but the second one is an absolute no-brainer.”

Heavy criticism from the Villa boss following the Chelsea midfielder’s tackle on Karim El Ahmadi but warranted.

Ramires will now have to reflect on his tackle with three matches on the sidelines plus maybe more if the FA decide to further punish him.
