National team striker Fred has thanked those who supported him during his time away from the Brazil squad with injury.

The Fluminense forward has returned to fitness now, although isn’t back to his best yet, and has been recalled by Luiz Felipe Scolari for Wednesday’s friendly against South Africa.

Fred believes he can bring luck to Felipão as he has done with all of his previous club managers lately, he said: “Scolari, the entire staff and Flávio Murtosa give me confidence.

“It gives me peace of mind, but I have to do a lot for these guys and my job is being taken seriously.

“I have given luck to my coaches, who are ‘parents’ like Abel Braga, Cuca and now Renato Gaúcho.”

Globo were quoting Fred and they state that Scolari was always checking up on his number one forward whilst he was injured.

With 100 days until the World Cup starts, the Fluminense forward talked about his aims for this summer’s tournament.

He added: “It’s 100 days to the World Cup. I have to arrive at the World Cup and do better than I did at the Confederations Cup.

“Until then, I have to work. Once you enter the field, you do not let go of the ball. You enter to do your best. If you have to split your head I will.”
