On Wednesday it was confirmed that Porto striker Walter, who was on loan at Goiás last season, would join Fluminense on a two-year loan deal.

President of Flu’s club sponsor Unimed Celso Barros had asked for Walter to join the Rio de Janeiro based club and much to his delight all parties involved agreed on the transfer.

The Brazilian forward could sign permanently at the end of his loan contract assuming the move is a success. Unimed will pay some of his wages.

The 24-year-old underwent his medical on Wednesday and will be presented when Tricolor Carioca start their pre-season.

Walter’s agent Marco Antonio Teles confirmed the move to Lance.

“It is closed and Walter is already preparing to get to Rio de Janeiro. What I can say is that the agreement was good for both sides, he is happy with the opportunity.”

Walter was one of the most dangerous forwards in the Brasileirão last season as he scored 13 goals and picked up six assists to help Goiás surprise several critics.

The powerful forward will hope his loan move to Fluminense is as successful as his last one with Goiás and that he can start to fulfill his early promise.
