Darío Conca has expressed his delight at coming back to Fluminense during his presentation with the club on Wednesday and thanked Celso Barros for approving the deal.

Barros is president of Unimed, sponsor of Fluminense, and Conca now wants to repay the faith shown in him, Lance reported quotes from the 30-year-old.

“I want to thank everyone from Fluminense to Celso. I’m twisted by this important moment in my life. It was two-and-a-half-years in which I got more experience.

“I think I am better than in 2011 but it is difficult to compare. I hope to be better so I am able to help Flu and comply with all my responsibilities to help Fluminense in the best way.”

The Argentine midfielder was voted best player in the Brasileirão for consecutive seasons in 2009 and 2010 and is immensely popular at the club.

Conca’s return will coincide with Flu trying to rebuild after a terrible 2013 where they only just escaped relegation from the Brasileirão thanks to Portuguesa’s points deduction.

His signing is a huge boost for the club and vice president Ricardo Tenorio marked Conca’s return with a complimentary remark.

“I want to point out that without any doubt, Conca returning is the biggest signing in Brazilian football.”
