Carlos Alberto Torres admits he is unsure whether Brazil will win the FiFA World Cup next summer.
The 69 year-old, who lifted the Jules Rimet Trophy with the Seleção in 1970, sees Brazil as one of the favourites, but insists the squad at head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari’s disposal is not as strong as it was when the tactician won the tournament in 2002.
“This is a young team and a good one,” he told GOAL.com. “However history suggests that you cannot win without experience. You need some experience within your ranks. This is a fact. Spain won the World Cup but they had won the European Championship before. But you never know what happens in Brazil.
“Brazil is a factory of good players. We have so much talent everywhere. That being said, this is not as great a team as that of Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Gilberto Silva and Roberto Carlos.
“We have one exceptional player in Neymar. Maybe he can help us. His decision to go to Barcelona was a good one as he is playing with and against some exceptional players. We are definitely one of the favourites to reach the final of the World Cup. It is a short competition of maybe four to five weeks. One loss and you can go out.”
