Luiz Felipe Scolari was in attendance for Sunday’s Derby della Madonnina and Inter Milan defender Jonathan is hoping to force his way into Brazil’s World Cup squad.

The more illustrious Seleção star on show may have been AC Milan’s Kakà but it was Jonathan and Juan Jesus who impressed the most as they helped Internazionale keep a clean sheet to get bragging rights in the derby.

Jonathan played a part in the winning goal as well and after the game admitted when Scolari watches, Brazil players enjoy the extra motivation and don’t become nervous.

“It is an extra motivation for all Brazilian players knowing that the coach of the national team is watching our work closely, watching football that we are developing.

“I’ve been doing a very good season and I hope he’s watching. The selection always makes room for some surprises in the last months before a World Cup and I have confidence that this chance will appear.”

The 27-year-old though is yet to represent his country and it would take a big effort for him to force a way into the Brazil national team.

However, if the former Santos and Cruzeiro defender can continue his current form this season he will certainly do his chances no harm.
