Botafogo are struggling to reach an agreement to extend the stay of Elias at the Rio de Janeiro based club, whilst player himself also has two proposals from Asian clubs on the table.

The loan contract of Elias ends on December 31st and negotiations with businessman Jorge Moraes, who represents Elias, have yet remained unresolved with some suggesting a move to Asia would be good for the 26-year-old.

Botafogo are yet to make a proposal to Resende, who own the economical rights of the striker, and president of Elias’ current club Ricardo Tufik wants talks to occur.

“Nothing has come to us yet. The story is still between Botafogo and the businessman of Elias and they are diverging. Let’s talk when they understand and make us a proposal.”

Elias enjoyed huge success in the Brasileirão with Botafogo and was joint topscorer for the club with ten goals, despite joining only halfway through the season.

Having qualified for the Copa Libertadores, the Rio de Janeiro club would like to sign the striker for next season but won’t secure his signature outside of their financial restrictions.

Only last week Moraes said that Elias would like to stay at the club and fans of Botafogo will hope a solution can be resolved shortly.
