Former Flamengo and Brazilian national team star Zico is close to being announced as the new manager of Al-Gharafa.
Zico himself announced via his facebook account that a deal is close to be signed, although he originally preferred to resume his career in Europe.
He posted on facebook: “I am going to Qatar on Saturday, there is a verbal agreement with Al-Gharafa, and we exchanged emails, so the deal with the club is well underway.
“I am going to check the last details and sign the contract. I am excited about this new challenge, but I prefer to talk about this after I sign the contract.”
Zico has previously managed Asian teams Kashima Antlers and Bunyodkor, as well as the Iraqi national team.
