Barcelona midfielder Alexis Sanchez has reflected on Neymar’s arrival at the club and on being in direct competition for a starting spot with the Brazilian.

The €57m summer signing is preparing with his new teammates for this evening’s friendly in Poland against Lechia Gdansk in what could be his first appearance for the Spanish giants, reports Football Espana.

Alexis told reporters today: “We had hoped for him and I wish him well for his further education in European football.

“How is he? In the morning I saw him and he looked a little tired…no, we all hope that he does well, he has the support of all of his teammates.

“He is one more in a team that is intent on fighting for all the titles this season.”

The Chilean international is expected to be in direct competition with Neymar for a place in the team.

He added: “The first thing is to have a good preseason, then to fight for a spot in the team every day.

“I trust my capacity as a player, the club have said that they count on me and I will stay to continue to help the team.

“I do not mind playing on the wing or down the middle, there is no difference.”
