Real Madrid defender Marcelo has flown out to the US ahead of a four-game tour after returning from the Confederations Cup.

The Brazil international was given an extended break this summer after his involvement in the tournament, which lasted until the end of June.

And Marcelo was part of the 28-man squad that immediately jetted off to America on a 12-hour flight yesterday for the second part of Madrid’s pre-season programme, alongside compatriots Kaka and Casemiro.

Spain internationals Iker Casillas, Alvaro Arbeloa, Raul Albiol and Sergio Ramos also returned from international duty, and all players underwent medical examinations before their flight.

Los Blancos, who begin training today, start their tour with a match in Phoenix against LA Galaxy, before playing either Everton or Juventus in Los Angeles in the International Champions Cup’s knockout format.

A final set of matches in the competition will be held next weekend, before Madrid are scheduled to meet Inter in a separate friendly a week on Wednesday in Missouri, as reported on Football Espana.
