Gianluigi Buffon believes that Italy demonstrated their potential at the Confederations Cup and says they can take on anyone in Brazil 2014.
Italy reached the semi-finals before losing to Spain on penalties but Buffon believes they can go further at the 2014 World Cup.
“A beautiful national side is being born,” the Juventus captain told ANSA. “The side can still grow and take on anybody at the World Cup.
“We demonstrated at the Confederations Cup that we are as good as the best teams in the world. We’ve also made progress in the way we play.
“Now we need to keep following the instructions of boss Cesare Prandelli in order to continue growing.”
Buffon is one of the team’s veterans having won 133 caps for the national team, leaving him just three caps short of breaking Fabio Cannavaro’s record.
