Tottenham Hotspur target Leandro Damião has revealed that he would want to play Champions League football should he leave Internacional this summer.

The 23-year-old is continually being linked with a number of top European clubs, including Napoli, Atlético Madrid, Inter Milan and Marseille.

Spurs have been the most active in their interest towards the Brazil international, but Damião has revealed their failure to secure Champions League football this season might be an obstacle to any potential move.

He said: “I know of Tottenham’s interest in me but I am happy to wait until the president of my club lets me know something official.

“I would prefer to play in a team that is in the Champions League, but the most important thing is that they share the same ambition that I have.”

Andre Villas-Boas’ side narrowly lost out to North London rivals Arsenal in the race for fourth place this season.

Spurs will therefore compete in the Europa League again next term, having been eliminated from the quarter-final stage by Swiss champions Basel this term.
