Former Milan star Andriy Shevchenko wants former team-mate and Botafogo captain Clarence Seedorf to try his hand at coaching in the future.

The Dutch veteran has been heavily linked with replacing coach Massimiliano Allegri at San Siro in the summer.

However, the possibility seems unlikely given Seedorf’s lack of experience, but Shevchenko would like to see him on the sidelines in the future.

“For me, it is difficult to speak of him as a coach because he has never had such an experience,” the retired Ukrainian forward told Sky Sports.

“If he were to choose this path then I will wish the best for him and I’ll be happy to see him on a bench.”

Allegri guided Milan to third place finish in Serie A after an excellent second half to the season, but his job remains in the balance, with a decision expected from the club in June.

Seedorf, who has been at Botafogo for almost one year, has played down the speculation while his coach, Oswaldo de Oliveira, laughed off the rumours.
