England"s Theo Walcott was impressed with the football skills he saw on Copacabana beach, and said that some of the tricks on show were beyond him.

Walcott was commenting ahead of Sunday’s friendly at the Maracanã between Brazil and England, and trying to put the difference between the two football cultures into perspective.

"I wouldn’t say we are lagging behind, not at all. But we will be tested on Sunday." said the Arsenal forward.

Walcott went on to say: "It is going to be spectacular to just be out here and to experience different parts of Brazil.

"Hopefully we can come out here again and show our stuff on the pitch. First of all we have to do the job [tomorrow]. As soon as you come here you realise just what a football place it is."

England have four games remaining in their World Cup qualifying campaign, and Walcott also suggested that a World Cup without England isn’t right.

"Going forward we have some tough qualifying matches but we want to be here next year, no doubt about it," he added.

"It wouldn’t be right if we weren’t here. We all know our job and that we need to do it now. The performance has to be slightly better but I didn’t think it was the end of the world the other day against Ireland."
