The agent of Zenit St Petersburg striker Hulk has confirmed that French club AS Monaco have shown interest in signing his client.

Monaco were originally thought to be chasing the signature of Manchester City’s Argentine striker Carlos Tevez, whose contract runs out next year, but the interest in him has cooled somewhat.

Hulk has now caught the attention of the French outfit, who are set to splash out around £100 million on the likes of Porto"s João Moutinho and Radamel Falcao from Atlético Madrid.

Teodoro Fonseca told Le10port: “I know Monaco is interested, but they never contacted me. They learnt of the speculation, [and now] the interest is real."

It’s likely that Zenit will hold out for a large fee for Hulk, having paid €55 million for his services, but this does not seem to be a stumbling block for Monaco, as they look to spoil Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 party.

Hulk has been called up for the Brazil squad for the upcoming friendly matches against England and France, which will act as a warm up for the Confederations Cup.

The striker will be one of many players hoping to convince Luiz Felipe Scolari that he warrants a place in next year’s World Cup squad.
