Grêmio’s midfielder Elano is eyeing a return to the Brazilian national team as has become a key player for his team.

Elano was one of Brazil’s best players in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, before an injury made him miss the last national team games in the competition.

As Brazil’s national team keep struggling, Elano intends to return to the squad, altough Scolari already made a decision about most of the players.

Elano told Zero Hora: “The transfer to Grêmio has added a lot to me, I have learned a lot here, the warrior spirit. It’s been wonderful.”

“I won’t give up a return to the national team. You can say the squad is complete, but I think it’s still open. I always say ‘place me there to see what happens’. I’ll keep doing my job and prove my worth on the pitch.”

Brazil’s squad for the Confederations Cup will be announced on May 14, Elano is not expected to be included in the list.
