Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has hailed David Luiz after his wonder strike helped the Blues confirm their place in the Europa League final.
The Brazilian curled a brilliant left-footed strike into the top corner of the net as Chelsea ran out 3-1 winners at Stamford Bridge on Thursday, winning 5-2 on aggregate.
Luiz played a key role in the centre of midfield over the two legs and Torres has praised his contribution.
The Spaniard told the club’s official website: “He has been brilliant in these two games.
“He scored a great goal at home and also in the first game. Without that it wouldn’t have been the same.
“I’m happy for him that he’s shown he can play in midfield as well as at the back so it’s good for everyone.”
Chelsea will face Luiz and Ramires’ former club Benfica in the showpiece final on May 15 at Amsterdam Arena.
Torres added: “Hopefully we can have another good memory after the final but we know how good they are.
“They are doing really well in the Portuguese league and if they win their next game they are champions.
“We have David Luiz and Ramires who used to play for them so they give us updates about their fixtures. They are one of the biggest teams on the continent so let’s see what happens.”
