Galatasaray reportedly allowed their option to purchase Felipe Melo run out in order to get him at a cut-price from Juventus.

The Brazilian spent the last two campaigns on loan at the Türk Telekom Arena and the club had until April 30 to sign him on a permanent basis for a pre-agreed €6.5 million.

However, according to Hurriyet, Galatasaray ignored that deadline because they are looking to net the midfielder for around €4m instead.

The 29-year-old was signed from Fiorentina for a fee in the region of €25m in July 2009, but is expected to be placed on the transfer list when he returns to Turin.

Melo made more than 60 appearances in all competitions during two seasons with Galatasaray, scoring 13 goals in the process.
