Fluminense star Deco has tested positive for a banned substance following a Campeonato Carioca match last month.

It emerged on Tuesday that the former Chelsea and Barcelona midfielder failed a doping test after the 2-0 win over Boavista on March 30 due to banned substance Furosemide.

Deco is believed to have ingested the substance through some vitamin supplements, which he purchased at a pharmacy.

Reports in Brazil claim the 35-year-old has appointed solicitors to take action against the company that produce the supplements he bought.

The news comes just two weeks after Vasco da Gama midfielder Carlos Alberto tested positive for two banned substances following a 3-2 win over Deco’s Fluminense side in early March.

Deco has not travelled with the Fluminense squad for their Copa Libertadores clash with Emelec in Ecuador on Thursday.

The club says they will not comment until the results of Deco’s “B” sample are released on Friday.
