Guangzhou Evergrande forward Elkeson has spoken about his adaptation to life in China, having started the 2013 season in record-breaking fashion.

The 23-year-old former Botafogo forward has scored 10 goals in his opening five fixtures since joining the Chinese club in January, and is currently five goals clear in the race to become Super League top scorer.

In an interview with Lancenet, the Brazilian spoke about his early adaptation to life in China, praising teammate Muriqui for his role in helping him settle.

“I"m very happy, not only because of the goals but also my adaptation," he told reporters.

“At the start it was a bit difficult, but I tried to fit in quidkly. It"s clear that the language is very difficult, but there is a translator here that has helped me a lot. There is also Muriqui, who has been here a long time—he helped a lot."

“In China, we have a lot of freedom to create and don"t need to defend a lot. Movement [in attack] is decisive here. In Brazil, there is a lot of freedom in matches, but it is even greater here."
