Brazilian Denilson has moved a step closer to returning to Brazil after agreeing terms with Cruzeiro.

The flamboyantly gifted forward has struggled to hold down a regular starting position at Real Betis.

With one eye on claiming a place in his country’s World Cup squad next year, it would appear Cruzeiro are leading the chase for his signature.

Denilson’s agent Luis Taveira has conceded that he envisages no problems that could prevent his client from returning to Brazil.

“I had a meeting with the officials of Cruzeiro and the player’s contract has been agreed so now the transfer only depends on Betis,” said Taveira.

“I will be travelling to Spain in the next hours and I hope to get Denilson released from Betis because he wishes to play again in Brazil.

”I suppose that before next weekend everything will be resolved.

“Denilson is interested in returning to Brazil for having again a place at the national team.

”I think that he is going to have the chance to come from Betis to Cruzeiro in a loan deal because he is in contract at Betis until 2010.”
