Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has singled out Philippe Coutinho for special praise after the Reds claimed a 2-1 victory at Aston Villa.
The Brazilian midfielder produced a particularly influential display at Villa Park as Liverpool came from behind to take all three points.
Coutinho played a fantastic defence-splitting pass to set up Jordan Henderson’s equaliser, which cancelled out Christian Benteke"s first-half opener, before Gerrard converted from the penalty spot.
Rodgers said: “It was a wonderful pass, and Jordan"s had a touch and his finish was fantastic because he"s got a wee bit of time to think about it.
“I"m really pleased for him and young Philippe has got great, great quality.
“I was actually surprised he didn’t take his one-on-one opportunity [in the second half] because he’s normally clinical in those situations.
“He’s an outstanding player. He creates goals, scores goals and works hard."
The 20-year-old now has an impressive three assists and two goals from his first six Premier League appearances.
