Málaga midfielder Lucas Piazón believes his side’s next two La Liga games are crucial in their bid to finish in a Champions League spot this season.

The Spanish outfit currently lie sixth in the table following their hugely disappointing 2-0 defeat to Espanyol at La Rosaleda last weekend.

Piazón, who is on-loan from Chelsea, was critical of his own display in the game and feels that the international break has come at a good time for the Champions League quarter-finalists.

The Brazilian said: “I didn’t play well at all last weekend. I started off poorly and lost confidence the longer the game went on.

“These two weeks will allow us to recuperate to ensure we’re in the best possible shape for the next game.

“I think we need time off to relax, it’s important with such a heavy schedule. We’ve got two days off to unwind and spend time with family, which is great.”

Málaga will travel to Rayo Vallecano next Saturday before a trip to fourth-placed Real Sociedad four days later.

Piazón is yet to score in nine appearances since temporarily leaving Stamford Bridge in January.
