Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge has hailed fellow team-mate Philippe Coutinho and believes the best is still yet to come from the Brazilian.

The duo have impressed since signing for Liverpool in the January transfer window for a combined fee of £20m.

“I’ve been very impressed,” said Sturridge. “He sees things very early, he’s got great vision. He’s a very skilful player and he’s got a powerful shot on him also.

“I think it’ll take time for us to see what he’s really capable of doing because he’s come from a different league, but he’s already showing that he’s got a vast amount of qualities.

“The best is yet to come from him but you’ll see that he’s a very, very special talent.

“It’s always important to have a player like that. You look at Coutinho, you look at Luis, you look at Stewie, you look at Stevie Gerrard and Lucas – those players all have the capabilities to play a killer ball behind a defence.

“You’ve also got players like Jonjo Shelvey and Jordan Henderson who I’ve played with and who’ve set me up on numerous occasions.

“To have these players, and players like Raheem, playing behind you, I couldn’t ask for any more.

“I’m sure there’ll be a lot of success for us in the future with the players we have now.”
