Vasco da Gama director of football Christian Koehler has admitted that the club are already planning for the exit of Brazil international defender Dedé this summer, with the defender reportedly hoping for a move.

Dedé, 24, has long been linked with a possible move to a giant club in Europe but was most recently consistently linked to a move to Copa Libertadores champions Corinthians.

The Brasileirão Defender of the Year in 2011, Dedé suffered with injury problems last campaign but has returned to form this campaign to earn a recent recall to the Brazil squad.

The Vasco director, though, does not expect him to remain at the São Januario too much longer.

“It will be very difficult for us to keep him over the summer,” Koehler told Radio Globo. “His desire is to go and play elsewhere. At the end of the season I think Dede will leave Vasco.

“We all want him to stay with us, but his desire is clear – he wants to pursue his career elsewhere and get a higher salary.”
