Sao Paulo got a 3-2 (5-2 Agr) victory over River Plate to ensure a place in the final of the Copa Libertadores championship.

Danilo, Amoroso and Fabao scored for Sao Paulo, which won the two-leg, total-goals series 5-2. Sao Paulo will face the winner of the Chivas-Atletico Paranaense game.

Atletico won the first game 3-0.

Playing at River Plate’s “Monumental” stadium, Sao Paulo took an early lead on Danilo’s header off an 11th-minute corner kick.

Marcelo Salas set up the River goal to level things with a soaring free kick in the 36th minute, delivering the ball squarely to the chest of teammate Ernesto Farias, who slotted it past Rogerio Ceni.

Veteran striker Amoroso scored in the 58th minute and Fabao added another goal in the 80th for Sao Paulo. Salas scored River’s second goal in the 83rd.

Sao Paulo last won the Libertadores championship in 1992 and 1993.
