Flamengo executive director Paulo Pelaipe says the club will not change their plans following a Taça Guanabara semi-final defeat to Botafogo on Sunday.

The club’s directors had previously insisted that no new arrivals would arrive at the Gávea until the end of the state championship and Pelaipe once more reiterated the message.

“We will not sign anyone until the end of the Campeonato Carioca,” he repeated. “It’s not going to be that we change our plans because of one defeat.”

Although the club are thought to be looking into possible striker signings for the beginning of the Brazilian championship, it is believed that the form of centre-forward Hernane means that there are no longer plans to sign reinforcements in the coming weeks.

The next major step for the club, in terms of financing future deals, is to confirm a new sponsorship agreement with bank Caixa Econômica and to organise the backpayment of wages owed to the clubs employees.
