Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers expressed his delight at the impact of Philippe Coutinho since his arrival from Serie A giants Inter in January.

Coutinho was snapped up for a fee of £8.5m along with fellow newboy Daniel Sturridge as Liverpool reinforced their attacking options.

Since his arrival, the Brazilian has notched up a goal and two assists in three appearances for the Reds and Rodgers couldn’t contain his delight at the youngster’s performances.

The Liverpool boss told Liverpoolfc.com: “He’s adapted and fit in very well. He’s a very talented young player who is a wonderful technician.

“Tactically, he participates in the game well and understands this way of working and playing. He created two goals with two assists against Wigan and was very impressive.

“He’s still getting his fitness – he’s up to 65/70 minutes now but as each day goes by he’s getting stronger. So far, he’s shown to be a very good signing for us.”
