Paris Saint-Germain director Leonardo stated that the Ligue 1 club are better suited to Champions League football following their shock 1-0 defeat to Stade de Reims.

Carlo Ancelotti"s side suffered their fifth defeat of the season after they failed to respond to Grzegorz Krychowiak’s 64th-minute goal.

This prompted Leonardo to suggest that the team’s style would be more successful in European competition.

The Brazilian told Infosport: “If we analyse the situation, we can say that we are not made to play these types of games. We"re not made for games like that, we"re a team made to play in Europe.

“PSG is for Europe, not for France. The playing conditions worked against us while playing against an ultra-defensive team, as did the circumstance we play every three days.

“When games are based on a fight, we do not succeed. We will have to learn how to face games like these though, as they are common here and this [the match against Reims] will not be the last time."

PSG remain top of the French division despite the shock defeat, but only three points ahead of second placed Olympique Lyonnais, though les Gones have a game in hand on the league leaders.
