Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has lined up Internacional striker Leandro Damião in a summer move as a replacement for the outgoing Emmanuel Adebayor according to reports in England.

The Independent reports that Tottenham are prepared to let Adebayor, who has scored just two goals this season, leave the club but that would leave the club dangerously short on options with Jermain Defoe their only remaining striker.

Spurs have tried three times to sign Leandro from Internacional in Brazil and even though Villas-Boas played down the idea of making a fourth bid next summer, the 23-year-old remains firmly on the head coach’s radar.

A €20m bid was reportedly rejected by Internacional in January and it was widely claimed that Villas-Boas had given up on the striker but it seems that the London club are back in the chase.

There is, however, interest in him from Italian clubs, notably Napoli, who are second in Serie A and strongly placed to qualify for the Champions League.
