Inter star Philippe Coutinho has completed his medical at Liverpool and his move to the Anfield club is expected to be confirmed within hours.
The Brazilian playmaker is on the verge of signing for the Premier League outfit in a deal worth around £8.5million.
According to Sky Sport Italia, the 20-year-old has now successfully completed his medical examination at Liverpool’s Melwood training ground.
Coutinho is therefore expected to be confirmed as Brendan Rodgers’ second signing of the January transfer window inside the next few hours.
The young Seleção international, who can play as a winger or a central playmaker, has struggled to make an impact at San Siro since his arrival from Vasco da Gama in 2010.
However, he impressed during a short-term loan at Espanyol last season, scoring five goals in 16 La Liga appearances, where he worked with new Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Pochettino’s recent appointment at Saints led to speculation linking him with the south coast club but Coutinho is now set for Merseyside.
