Real Madrid have revealed they are still in negotiations with Milan over a deal for Kaká, despite the Rossoneri declaring they have given up trying.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani said on Saturday that “there is no chance of getting Kaká now” and that the club are “no longer working on it”.

However, today José Mourinho’s assistant manager Aitor Karanka spoke to the media and painted a different picture.

He said: “We are still negotiating over the Kaká situation and we’ll see how it ends, otherwise he will be an extra man for the squad.”

Mourinho himself had previously stated that he believes a return to the San Siro would be good for the Brazilian playmaker.

However, a deal has not been agreed due to financial considerations, despite all parties wanting the move to happen.
