Liverpool are set to seal the signing of Inter’s Brazilian starlet Phillipe Coutinho over the weekend according to reports in Italy.
The Reds had two bids rejected by Inter and it looks as though the third will be accepted by the Serie A outfit.
Southampton were interested in the player and matched Inter’s asking price of £10.2m but the former Vasco star turned down a move to the south coast.
There are contradictory reports however over the valuation of the final bid from Liverpool, as the English press are reporting an offer of £8m, whilst Italian media are claiming £10.2m.
Inter are desperate to push through the deal so they can then move onto one of their own targets, Seleção midfielder Paulinho.
The Corinthians midfielder is valued at €18m and the Nerazzurri are looking to strengthen a thread bare midfield after the departure of Dutch playmaker Wesley Sneijder and possibly Coutinho.
