Grêmio have finally completed the loan signing of Napoli’s Chilean forward Eduardo Vargas and will present the player to the media on Saturday.
Vargas, 23, has been a player in demand this close season, with Sâo Paulo, Flamengo and Arsenal all said to be interested, but the deal was officially completed between the two clubs earlier this week.
The loan move, which is for one year, has a clause which means Grêmio can terminate after six months, but also allows Napoli to recall the player at any point during the loan.
“It was a long negotiation, exhausting, but worth it for the quality that Vargas can add to our group,” director of football Rui Costa told Lancenet!
Vargas, who will face competition from Marcelo Moreno, Willian José, Kleber and André Lima for a starting place at the new Grêmio Arena, will leave Italy on Friday evening and is expected to land in Porto Alegre around midday where he will be presented to the media.
