Santos vice president Odílio Rodrigues believes it will be “very difficult” for the club to re-sign former star Robinho, given the high values involved in the deal.

Robinho, 28, has expressed his desire to return to Brazilian football in January and AC Milan are willing to part with the high-earning Brazilian. However, at an asking price of €10 million, Santos are the latest Brasileirão side to admit that a deal is unlikely.

“With Robinho, it is a really difficult negotiation and the values are high,” Odílio told Lancenet.

“We know that he is an idol and has a preference for returning to Santos, but we need to be careful. Is it possible to sign him? At the moment, we are some way off. It’s a difficult negotiation. It’s complicated.”

Earlier this week, Flamengo ruled themselves out of buying the Brazilian international forward due to the high costs, whilst São Paulo have also distanced themselves from making a bid for the player.

Santos are believed to have targetted Cruzeiro’s Argentine attacking midfielder Walter Montillo as their main transfer target for the 2013 season, but that deal also remains some distance from completion.
