Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard admitted his disappointment at Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Corinthians in the final of the Fifa Club World Cup in Yokohama.

Lampard, 34, who was captain for the final in the absence of the injured John Terry, believes the West London club had more than enough chances in the game.

“It was always going to be a tough game. They are a very good team,” Lampard told reporters after the final.

“It is tough to come away with a bad feeling. We had enough chance to at least draw the match.”

“They were very organised, I think Brazilian teams at club level can be like that.

“We knew what they were going to bring. It is disappointing to come all this way and not win it.”

Chelsea created a number of chances during the 90 minutes but were constantly denied by Corinthians keeper Cássio, who was in superb form.

The European champions will now return to England to face a busy Christmas period and will be keen to reduce the 13 point gap to league leaders Manchester United.

“We have to win a run of games in the league now. We’ve got the league, the Europa League, Capital One Cup and the FA Cup coming up. We have to move on,” he added.
