Corinthians coach Tite has praised his side’s dominance during their 1-0 win over Al-Ahly to progress to the Club World Cup final.

The Brazilian side relied on a first-half goal from Paulo Guerrero to secure a victory in the semi-final, despite a resurgent display from the Egyptian club.

Corinthians were the stronger side throughout the ninety minutes, despite the narrow scoreline, and Tite now believes the Timão could go on to claim the title.

The 51-year-old said: “There is a concrete possibility to get the title now, but this should not distract the players. Yes, we can be champions now, and this – again – is a huge responsibility.

“We had a great first half, and I am extremely satisfied because we did not concede any chances. In football the two halves can be really different games, but in the end we won.

“We had to come out of this game with a result, and as the time passed we were focused on that.”

Tite also praised the great support from the reported 20,000 Corinthians fans inside the Toyota stadium.

“We were dominating the game in the first half also thanks to the supporters, we had to respond positively to them,” he added.

“They helped a lot, they gave us a huge boost, but of course the pressure also increased.”

Corinthians will play either Chelsea or Monterrey in the final of the FIFA tournament on Sunday.
