Santos President Luis Alvaro Ribeiro has confirmed the club have made an offer for AC Milan’s Robinho and that the forward wants to return to Brazil.

There have been numerous reports circulating for the past few months that the Brazil striker is looking for a January return to his former club.

Robinho has recently spoke of his love for the club, where he started his career, and that any potential transfer would be an easy decision for him, which is something Ribeiro has reiterated.

He said: “Robinho wants to return to Brazil and for him that means returning to Santos.

“We have presented a written offer, though there is a difference between what the player and the club are asking for.

“It is not an easy negotiation process, but we will know the outcome next week.”

Recent reports had suggested that Santos already had a deal in place with Robinho and Milan, which involved cash plus midfielder Felipe Anderson for a total €8m move.
