Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque does not believe that the recent changes to the Brazil national team will affect them that much, and warned the hosts must be respected at next year’s Confederations Cup.
Del Bosque, 61, whose team qualify for the competition as World Champions, was in São Paulo on Saturday for the draw in which Spain were placed in Group B alongside Uruguay, Tahiti and the winners of next year’s African Nations Cup, and the coach told reporters that Brazil will be contenders.
“Let’s try to get the best conditions. We have to see, everyone is saying that Brazil is sleeping, but Brazil are the holders.
“First we will try to qualify. A well-organized team is always a problem for anyone.”
And despite having one of the best group of players in the history of football at his disposal, the former Real Madrid coach refused to single out any individial for praise.
“We’re talking about a team sport. What worries us are the selections.
“Of course we want the best, we know that each tournament has its own character. We also have the possibility of new players coming in,” he added.
Brazil, the host’s, were drawn in Group A and will face Japan, Mexico and Italy.
