Lazio midfieder Hernanes will reach 100 games for the Serie A side on Sunday when they face Parma at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Hernanes, 27, who has played eight times for Brazil, moved to the Rome giants from São Paulo in August 2010 for €11 million, and the playmaker cannot believe how fast the time has gone.

“To make 100 games in two years and four months is really very satisfactory,” he told Globo Esporte.

“It was fast, it seems that I just arrived yesterday. I thought I would come and it would be difficult to adapt to the environment, into the heart of the fans, the club, but was instead, I was very well received.

“The team received me well, after that crowd welcomed me. These things helped me to perform my job. Divided between these three parts: club, teammates and fans. I share this with all of them.”

The player has been likened by some to former Lazio idol Pavel Nedved, but Hernanes disagrees.

“I think a lot is still missing. Nedved won a scudetto. I still did not. I need to win a championship. Without comparisons, I like to evolve, to grow every year and this is what is happening.

“If I’m going to get to that level it does not matter to me. I want to continue to grow,” he added.

Lazio currently lie fifth in the Serie A table on 26 points, six behind early leaders Juventus.
