Thiago Silva has admitted that Paris Saint-Germain have work to do if they are to become as big as former club AC Milan.
The Brazilian international left the San Siro for the Parc des Princes in a deal worth around €40m this summer.
PSG are currently second in Ligue 1 with just two defeats, while AC Milan are tenth in Serie A, but Silva believes his current club have a lot of growing to do before they reach the same level as the Rossoneri.
He said: “Milan’s name is more feared than PSG’s at the moment, because they have won the Champions League seven times.
“We’re back in the competition after I don’t know how many years, so people don’t have that respect for us yet.
“That will come with victories, with hard work and good football, so that’s what we’re looking to do.
“We’re still growing, It isn’t ideal to change a lot of players at the same time, it takes a while to understand each other.”
PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti, meanwhile, has hailed Silva as one of the very best defenders on the planet right now.
“No one has the concentration, the speed, the heading or the sense of anticipation he has.
“He is on track to become the next Paolo Maldini.”
Silva is one of the 30 nominees for Sambafoot’s Samba Gold Trophy 2012, after winning the award last year.
The public can vote for the defender from Saturday, 1 December and throughout December for the trophy, which is awarded to the best performing Brazilian based in Europe.
