Taison, 24, was a key member of the Metalist side who enjoyed a fine run to the quarter-finals of the Europa League last campaign and was, earlier this week, nominated for the Samba Gold trophy 2012 – awarded to the best Brazilian player in Europe this year.

The attacker, primarily used as a second-striker, was tentatively linked in the Blues in the summer and that interest has reportedly been reignited. Taison was present at Chelsea’s fixture with Fulham on Wednesday night, holding talks with the club and visiting former Internacional team-mate Oscar.

With Fernando Torres out of form, Daniel Sturridge potentially leaving and Victor Moses heading to the Africa Cup of Nations, Chelsea are believed to be looking at forward options ahead of the New Year when they could be left light in attacking areas.

Globo report that Taison would be released to join the Blues should a fee of around £12 million be offered and insist that there is a “good chance” that the player will become the fifth Brazilian in Chelsea’s squad this January.
