Former AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf has urged supporters to be patient with striker Alexandre Pato after the youngster came in for some criticism.

Seedorf, now playing for Botafogo in Brazil, believes that Milan can restore itself to its former glory after the departure of several key players.

The Dutchman told Sky Sports Italia: “I don’t know if Pato is in a crisis, it seems to me that he scored two games ago. I don’t know the situation in the dressing room, but he is a great player and you have to have patience with him. There are not many like Pato around.”

Seedorf waved away suggestions that Milan are in crisis mode: “Of course after the departure of some important players it takes some time to rebuild. Sure, some of these players could have stayed, but the board has made some important economic decisions.”

Milan are struggling in Serie A, lying in tenth place, some 14 points off leaders Juventus after selling Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva in the summer.
