Atlético Madrid defender Miranda scored in added time as his side eased past nine-man Sevilla 4-0 on Sunday.

Radamel Falcao got Atlético on their way in the 22nd minute with a goal from the penalty spot, after Federico Fazio was red carded for fouling Jorge “Koke” Resurrección in the area.

The home side were 3-0 up at half time thanks to an own goal by Sevilla’s Emir Spahic in the 40th minute and Koke’s strike in the 43rd.

Sevilla were then reduced to nine men when Ivan Rakitic was shown his second yellow card of the match for kicking out at Thiago.

João Miranda rounded off Atlético’s dominant performance with a goal in added time, when the Brazilian centre back tapped the ball in from close range.

The win means Atlético have provisionally moved level on points with Barcelona at the top of La Liga, ahead of Barça’s away game at Levante later.

Atletico have won 11 out of 13 games and visit third-place Real Madrid next with an eight-point lead over their crosstown rival.
