Botafogo star Elkeson scored as his team dropped two valuable points against Palmeiras at the weekend, and the forward believes the club should treat the remaining four league games as finals if they want to qualify for the 2013 Copa Libertadores.

Botafogo moved to 5th in the table after the draw with Palmeiras, but are still eight points behind 4th placed São Paulo, who currently occupy the last qualification spot.

However unlikely it seems that Botafogo will claw back those eight points, Elkeson believes they should not lower their heads and should give their all until the end of the season.

He told Lancenet: “No use whining when we drop points. Now, we need to just think about the next game against Portuguesa. We have to do our role and that is to win this game. Now we have to focus on these four games. Four finals for us and get as many points as possible.”

The player was disappointed to drop the points in the draw, however admitted that it was a tough game to play in, with Palmeiras and their fans fighting for survival.

“We had the opportunity to kill the game against Palmeiras. The team hit them on the counter-attack and had a chance to kill the game. We knew it would be difficult to hold the result for the pressure that Palmeiras was having from their fans. They tried at all costs to blow the ball to their goal.We lacked a bit of tranquillity in the counter-attacks to kill the game.”
