Barcelona’s Adriano has been sidelined with an thigh injury sustained in their 3-1 victory over Celta Vigo, according to the club website.

A statement on Barcelona’s offical website stated: “Adriano Correia sustained a tear in the adductor of his right thigh in tonight’s match against Celta. He’ll be out of action for three weeks, according to the club’s medical services.”

Adriano. 28, was replaced by fellow Brazilian Dani Alves who has himself just returned from a lengthy layoff.

The fullback had given his side the lead before being forced off in the 38th minute, and the Catalans went on to win and preserved their unbeaten record this season.

Adriano will likely miss Barcelona’s next three league games against Mallorca, Zaragoza and Levante.

Goals from David Villa and Jordi Alba added to Adriano’s to ensure Barcelona remained top of La Liga after ten games, but an injury to Lionel Messi is also cause for concern.
