Flamengo supporters could yet see troubled striker Adriano in first team action before the year is out according to the club.

Club physiologist Claudio Pavanelli told Lancenet! that the former Brazil striker will take to the pitch at Audax’s Ninho do Urubu on Thursday: “Adriano will participate in the training game against Audax.

“We are expecting a good performance from him. We will participate in more activities so he can make his debut later this year.”

According to Pavanelli, Adriano is undergoing an intensive training programme in order to be fit to play in an official match: “All of our work is focused on it. He is happy to be able to participate, even though it’s a training game.

“The recovery continues apace every day. If he continues this way, very soon he will make the fans happy.”

The former Inter forward’s time at Flamengo has been plagued by disciplinary problems and lifestyle issues which has seen him miss a total of four training sessions at the club in recent months.
