Felipe Anderson, 19, is playing an important role for Santos as they continue to cope with the prolonged absence of Neymar, as well as the recent departure of playmaker Ganso.

“He is still developing,” Muricy told a press conference. “He is very important to the team. He takes up good positions on the pitch, he marks, it’s very helpful…

“I think that little-by-little he is acquiring the necessary confidence. He has a lot of quality, he will get better still.”

The praise was, though, tempered by a slight criticism, with the coach suggesting that the youth academy product can still improve on his final pass and contol of the game.

“Felipe still needs to improve on his pass because people demand the best from a player of his quality,” he added.

“He has helped us a lot, we all see this, but what he lacks is the ability to step on the ball and calm the team down. He is still a boy who thinks he is just attacking, he will learn with time.”

Felipe Anderson will be back in action this Wednesday as Santos continue with their campaign to sneak a highly unlikely Libertadores place for 2013.
