Neymar, 20, and Kaká, 30, both scored for the Seleção in the convincing 6-0 win over Zico’s Iraq, but it was their link-up play, alongside Chelsea midfielder Oscar, that left the biggest positive memory for supporters.
Remarkably, it was the first-time that the duo had ever played together, with Kaká not having featured in the Canarinha since the 2010 World Cup in South Africa – before Neymar made his debut.
The Santos youngster, though, was delighted with the impact of his returning colleague and expressed his hopes for a bright future together in the colours of Brazil.
“It was wonderful to have him back in the squad. He’s a star and we got along very well,” Neymar told Terra post-match. “We still need to work on our understanding, but I’m confident that we can improve.”
Next up for Brazil lie Japan on Tuesday in what should be a much firmer test of the new-look Seleção‘s recent development.
