Atlético Mineiro’s Jo has spoken of teammate Ronaldinho Gaúcho’s professionalism after playing in their 6-0 win over Figueirense despite the death of his stepfather.

Ex-Manchester City striker Jo, 25, told reporters: “He had his head in place and asked to play. He has experience, is a sensational guy.

“Surely this is really hurting him, but this guy is exemplary and showed his commitment to the team.”

Ronaldinho’s coach Cuca also had praise: “I talked to him about the death of his stepfather, and he also has a sick mother. He told me that he could not quit now because it would be worse for the mother.

“He said he would play and try to make another goal, which he did. He was very professional in a difficut moment.”

This comes after Ronaldinho’s superb performance in the 6-0 rout against Figueirense in which he scored a hat trick and set up two other goals to maintain their chase of leaders Fluminense in yesterday’s Brasileirão.
